Airfield Maintenance

JS Agriculture has over twenty five years experience working on airfields. Carrying out a full range of operations on the manoeuvring area from bottoming out to airfield topping using our 8m Shulte mowers capable of cutting up to 180ha per day!

Airfield works undertaken includes

• Airfield grass topping using 8m shulte toppers.
• Bottoming out.
• Selective weed control.
• Fertiliser / Lime application.
• Total weed control in cracks / joints and hard standing areas.
• Strimming around airfield obstructions.
• Hedge / Ditch cutting with 8m reach

Bottoming out is carried out using a 3m front mower and a 70cu.m forage wagon coupled to a 300hp tractor. Fitted with low ground pressure tyres, this system keeps tractor movements on the airfield to a minimum along with minimizing soil compaction.

Other operations include fertilizer / lime application, selective weed control using a 30m reach boom sprayer, strimming around all manoeuvring area obstructions and spraying all cracks and joints for total weed control.

All our operators are fully conversant with CAA procedures and regulations and hold the relevant licences required along with VHF/UHF competencies.

Current clients include BAA and the MOD along with other airfields.
